COURAGE Toolkit

For me, courage is the ability to stand [knee deep] in one’s truth.  One way to begin a  courageous journey by looking at  fear. Fear is often seen as our adversary, something to be conquered like it is a beast, or to be avoided all together.  Consider reframing fear, instead of seeing it as your adversary, something that could destroy you or paralyze you, see it for what is really designed for, a guide to protect you.  Fear in its original design is meant to keep you safe.  Go inside of yourself and find yourself in your moments, take a good look at beautiful resilient YOU.  Unpack your fears and see what they are all about. Acknowledge that fear is not your enemy.  It is a guard that often times outlives its purpose. Instead of forcing it away, in a moment of calm and quietness, understand it, empathize with it.  Fear is trying to protect something precious, something you hold dear like your dreams, your heart, your desires, your life.  The only way fear knows how to do that is by saying NO.  Fear is afraid that you are not ready, but that doesn’t mean you are not.  Be courageous. Trust that you are exactly where you need to be.  Fear will always be there, often times with a valid voice, however, do not give it your power.  It is not there to navigate the journey,  that is for you to do, you are the architect, the protagonist, the captain of your vessel.  TAKE THE LEAD.  Courage is  NOT the absence of fear, it is the presence of something stronger, LOVE, TRUST, YOUR TRUTH.  As those things grow, fear shrinks, the context changes.  The victory is not in conquering fear; it is in befriending it.  Make peace with your fears, and have the courage to move forward!
